North Caicos, often referred to as "the Garden Island" is a 40 mile long island just 12 miles northeast of Providenciales. It is the greenest of all the islands with more rainfall than the other cays.
North Caicos is a short 10-minute plane ride from Providenciales and a 25-minute boat
ride. The international airport in North Caicos currently only accommodates private jets,
but is scheduled for 
runway expansion to inlcude direct commercial flights.Most residents keep small garden
plots of vegetables and fruit trees. Population is concentrated into four settlements.
